Lauren Matison is the founder of offMetro.com, an award-winning green travel site based in NY and SF, described by Lonely Planet USA as “one of the top 10 most reliable websites in responsible travel today.” Acquired by OutdoorFest in fall 2016, oM has been featured in major outlets like The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Outside, Gotham Magazine and TreeHugger.

Lauren has over a decade’s worth of experience as an eco travel/lifestyle journalist and is currently a contributing writer at National Geographic Travel, Parents.com, Men’s Journal, Thrillist and Bicycling. She was also Travel + Leisure’s first Green Getaways columnist, where she covered everything from the best farm-to-table restaurant in every state to responsible adventures in Cuba. Lauren also regularly writes branded content for clients like the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Yahoo!, Mastercard, Montana Tourism Board, Hotel Indigo, Kimpton Hotels and Amtrak. Lauren was named one of the best bloggers in the country by Cosmopolitan Magazine. She has filmed several on-air travel segments with NBC’s Today in NY Show and often produces and hosts travel panels at events like The New York Times Travel Show, the Travel and Adventure Show, and New York Travel Festival.

Lauren was born in Manhattan, raised in Los Angeles, and has lived in Paris, Rome, and London. Her grandfather Mel Matison, a short story author and Esquire contributor, posthumously passed on his appetite for writing, for which she is grateful.
